The Hollywood Walk of Fame is comprised of over 2,000 stars embedded in the sidewalks on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. They get an average of 200 nominees (anyone, even fans, can nominate any celebrity) and they narrow it down every year. The nominee must have at least five years’ experience in the business and have made a significant contribution to the world of entertainment in order to be selected.
There is no real meaning behind this honor other than a street decoration and possibly an ego boost for the recipients, but I have no problem with the tradition. In fact, it’s lovely to give celebrities such a great reward for their hard work in the business and I like guessing who might recieve the honor next.
I actually memorized a lot of the celebrities who have been given a star, which means I am also well aware of who doesn’t have one. The reasons why some celebrities don’t have stars varies from person to person. Sometimes the celebrity refuses to participate in the ceremony (Clint Eastwood) or they don’t like the idea of people walking on their names (Julia Roberts) or they just haven’t gotten around to it yet (J.J. Abrams). Regardless of why, I have made a list of all the celebrities who don’t have stars but definitely deserve them for the simple reason that THEY ARE STARS. The reactions to the selections I’ve made will range from “Still no star?” to “Give it time” to “Probably will never happen.” This list is just for fun but I am serious about all of these people.
